Siblings Sweep Early Double at Meadowlands; All-Turf Meet Continues to ‘Wow’ with Numbers

It was all in the family for Friday night’s early double at the all-turf Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet as Ataway Max captured the opener and his older sister, More Trix, took the second on the six-race card.Handle for the evening came in at $1,401,489, a 37% increase over the comparable night in 2016.
With a three-wide rally, Ataway Max stormed home to a 3 ½ length victory paying $8.The 3-year-old gelding by Bluegrass Cat from the Phone Trick mare Basic Trick stepped the mile over firm turf in 1:39.38.Approximately 25 minutes later it was time for Ataway Max’s older sister to take center stage as More Trix rallied up the fence to post a length and a quarter victory, paying $8.60.More Trix, a 4-year-old daughter of Posse, went the five furlongs in :59.52.The $34 daily double was the product of New Jersey breeding by Millie Fleming.
The 2017 Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet continues for five consecutive Saturdays through Oct. 28.Post time is 7 p.m. nightly with the exception of closing night, when the action gets underway at 5:30 p.m.
