Monmouth Park held a $300 NHC qualifier on Saturday, October 5, and Mitch Schuman of the Brightwaters, NY, finished in the top spot with a total of $1,438.60.

Schuman bested a field that included 119 entries. He turned his starting $150 bankroll into the winning total by betting races from Belmont @ Aqueduct, Keeneland and Woodbine.  Contest players could only bet win, place and/or show and needed to bet a minimum of $15 per race.

By finishing first and fourth, Schuman takes home the first-place cash prize of $5,175 plus the fourth-place cash prize of $1,035.  Schuman also wins a seat into the 2025 National Horseplayers Championship.  Second-place finisher Bernard Reilly will be joining Schuman on his NHC trip.
