Pool Winner Pulls Away In My Frenchman Stakes

Oceanport, N.J. – Colts Neck Stables LLC’s Pool Winner grabbed the lead right from the start and never looked back, posting a nearly three-length victory in the $60,000 My Frenchman Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.
Trained by Alan Goldberg, Pool Winner stepped the 5 ½ furlongs over firm turf in 1:01.72 and paid $6.40, $3.40 and $2.60.Sylven Park closed well to complete the $95.60 exacta and paid $15.60 and $4.40.It was another length and a half back to post-time favorite Run for Logistics, who paid $2.20 to show.
“The plan was to go to the front,” said winning jockey Nik Juarez.“Speed has been good on both turf and dirt today.I was looking around for the competition before asking him for a little more at the 3/16ths pole and he just kept on going.”
A 4-year-old gelding by Broken Vow from the Dixieland Band mare Welcome Home, Pool Winner has now won six of his 15 lifetime starts, good for earnings of $244,840.
Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Sunday, Aug. 14 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.
