Gary Machiz Wins $300 NHC Qualifier

The $300 Monmouth Park/Woodbine NHC Qualifier was held Saturday, June 29 and the winner was Gary Machiz of Cream Ridge, NJ.
Machiz bested a field that included 168 entries. He turned his starting $150 bankroll into $1,261 by betting races from Monmouth Park and Woodbine. Contest players could only bet win, place and/or show and needed to bet a minimum of $15 per race. Woodbine’s Queen’s Plate was a mandatory race.
By finishing first, Machiz takes home the first-place cash prize of $7,100. Three NHC seats were awarded Saturday and they went to Machiz, Fiore Esposito and Lou Filoso.
Monmouth Park’s next handicapping contest is coming up on Sunday, July 28. The $250 contest will award two seats to the 2020 NHC.
