BREEN DUO ‘READY TO GO’ FOR LADY’S SECRET

Trainer Kelly Breen will send a duo, Money’soncharlotte and Cayman Croc, to the gate to face four rivals in Sunday’s $75,000 Lady’s Secret Stakes going a mile and seventy yards on the Monmouth main track.

“They’ve both been training really well,” said Breen. “We gave them some time off to refresh and they both show they are ready to go from their works. I’m excited to see them get back to the track Sunday.”

George E. Hall’s Money’soncharlotte returned to the races off a 4-month layoff in impressive fashion on April 8 with a 5 ½ length victory against allowance optional claiming foes at Parx. Her lone career stakes win came as a 2-year-old when she took the Hut Hut Stakes at Gulfstream Park in gate-to-wire fashion.

The 5-year-old mare by Mizzen Mist out of the Chimes Band mare Something Wicked was victorious in her last try over the Monmouth dirt last year, taking optional claiming company wire-to-wire.

To prepare for Sunday, Money’soncharlotte worked three times with the most recent breeze coming on June 17 when she went four furlongs in :47 4/5 over a fast Monmouth main track.

Paco Lopez will get the call aboard Money’soncharlotte in the Lady’s Secret as she breaks from the outside post in the field of 6.

Breaking along the rail will be her stablemate Cayman Croc, who makes her first start since a sixth place finish in the Maryland Racing Media Stakes at Laurel Park on Feb. 18.

The 5-year-old mare by Bob and John out of the South African bred Wolf Power mare Cayman Sunset has only raced once at Monmouth Park in her career, finishing third in allowance optional claiming company in 2015.

Owned by Stoneway Farm, Cayman Croc fired a bullet work to get ready for Sunday on June 25 when she went four furlongs in :47, the best of the 67 horses that went the distance on the day. Albin Jimenez will be aboard for the first time.

For either Money’soncharlotte or Cayman Croc to grab the Lady’s Secret Stakes, they will have to defeat Grade 3 winner and 3/5 morning-line favorite Eskenformoney, who was victorious in the Rampart Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Dec. 17.

The Lady’s Secret Stakes will go as race 9 on Sunday’s 10-race card. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. with first post scheduled for 12:50 p.m.

MONMOUTH/WOODBINE HANDICAPPING CONTEST SUNDAY

Monmouth Park will be hosting a $250 Monmouth/Woodbine Handicapping Contest throughout the day on Sunday.

The top two finishers of the contest earn spots in the 2017 DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship with the winner also earning a seat at the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge and cash prizes. You must wager five races at both Monmouth and Woodbine, which includes the Grade 1 Queens Plate.

Walk-up registration will take place the day of the contest from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Sunday will also be Family Fun Day featuring pony rides, face painters and a bounce house.

Gates will open at Monmouth at 11:30 a.m. with first post coming at 12:50 p.m.
