Bingo’s Boy Prevails After Lengthy Stretch Duel To Win Saturday’s Featured Allowance Optional Claimer By A Head

August 10, 2024

Bingo’s Boy came to even terms with front-running Legendary Thinker with three-sixteenths of a mile remaining and then prevailed in a hard-fought stretch duel to win by a head in Saturday’s featured $62,500 allowance optional claimer for New Jersey-breds at Monmouth Park.

Ridden by Jairo Rendon and trained by Jose Sanchez, Bingo’s Boy followed the moved of Legendary Thinker coming out of the final turn, with the duo breaking away from the rest of the field.

They battled for most of the stretch, with Bingo’s Boy surviving an inquiry and objection to post his second win from four career starts.

The winning time for the mile was 1:39.58.

A 3-year-old gelded son of Sea Wizard owned by Resolana Racing and Will To My Heart Racing, Bingo’s Boy paid $24.40 to win.

Irish Meadow, the 4-5 favorite in a field reduced to eight by five scratches (two at the gate; the other three when the race was taken off the turf), was another 2½ lengths back in third.

Bingo’s Boy was making just his second start for Sanchez after moving from the barn of Jose Delgado.

The exacta with Legendary Thunder, the 5-2 second choice, returned $127.00 for $2.

Racing resumes at Monmouth Park on Sunday with a 10-race card. Track officials have already announced that there will be turf racing on Sunday.
