Bradester Goes All The Way In Majestic Light Stakes

Oceanport, N.J. – Joseph W. Sutton’s Bradester continued to show his affinity for Monmouth Park on Saturday, posting an easy four-length win in the $75,000 Majestic Light Stakes as the odds-on favorite in the field of seven colts and geldings.
Trained by Eddie Kenneally, Bradester covered the flat mile over a fast main track in 1:36.76 and paid $3.20, $2.60 and $2.40.Adirondack King, who tried the winner around the far turn, settled for second, paying $3.80 and $3.20 and completing the $17.40 exacta.It was another six lengths back to Encryption, who paid $3 to show.
“Wow, he made me look good today,” said winning rider Joe Bravo.“For the first start of the year, to come out running like that – that was pretty impressive.He was just cruising out there and came back really strong off the layoff.”
The Majestic Light was Bradester’s first start since finishing ninth in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile on Oct. 30 last year.
From six starts in Oceanport, N.J., Bradester has three wins and three seconds.He was runner-up in the 2014 Salvator Mile and Monmouth Cup, came back to win those races last year and was second in the 2015 Iselin Stakes.Saturday’s win was the 8th in 22 lifetime starts for Bradester, a 6-year-old horse by Haskell winner Lion Heart from the Grand Slam mare Grandestofall.He has now earned $752,732.
