She’s Hot Wired Wins Open Mind ‘Cap On Memorial Day

Oceanport, N.J. – Lawrence Dilione, Jr.’s She’s Hot Wired closed with a rush to nail pacesetter Bustin Out on the line to capture the $60,000 Open Mind Handicap on Memorial Day Monday at Monmouth Park.
Trained by Mario Serey Jr. She’s Hot Wired covered the six furlongs over a sloppy main track in 1:10 4/5 and paid $13.20, $4.80 and $3.20.It was a nose back to the runner-up who completed the $64.60 exacta and paid $4.20 and $3.20.Love Came to Town was another neck back in third, good for a $2.80 show mutuel.
“She’s such a hard-trying horse,” said winning jockey Trevor McCarthy.“When I rode her in Philadelphia (Parx on April 25) I was really impressed with her.Turning for home she just kept trying and trying and finally she got there.”
A 5-year-old mare by Cable Boy from the Diablo mare Diablo’s Number, She’s Hot Wired sports a record of 5-8-12 from 35 career starts, good for earnings of $307,046.
