Jersey Shore Six Carryover of $84,858 With Mandatory Payout Sunday
September 24, 2016
Sunday’s race card marks the close of the 2016 Monmouth Park racing season which means mandatory payouts in all multi-race wagers, including the Jersey Shore Six, which sports a carryover of $84,858.42.
The carryover will be added to whatever is wagered in Sunday’s Jersey Shore Six pool with the entire amount being paid out to those who select the most winners in the final six races. The Jersey Shore Six, a 20-cent base wager, kicks off on Sunday in race 5, approximate post-time 2:47 p.m.
In Saturday’s racing action, Fuzzy Muzzle rode the rail to victory, besting No More Music by nearly a length to capture the $51,200 optional claiming allowance race for New Jersey-breds. Owned by Rock Talk Farm and trained by Jason Servis, Fuzzy Muzzle covered the flat mile over a fast main track in 1:37.83 and paid $4.20, $3.40 and $2.40 as the favorite in the field of seven. The runner-up paid $6 and $3.60 and completed the $31.40 exacta. It was 2 ½ lengths back to pacesetter We B Jammin, who paid $2.80 to show.
A 7-year-old gelding by Closing Argument from the Victory Gallop mare Hope’s Folly, Fuzzy Muzzle has now won six of his 24 starts.
Gates open on Sunday at 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m. Following Sunday’s card, live Thoroughbred racing shifts north to the Meadowlands for 14 all-turf cards beginning Wednesday, Sept. 28. The Meadowlands will offer a 15% takeout rate on all wagers, the lowest in the nation.
