Bustin Out Back to Monmouth Park Winner’s Circle
May 20, 2017
Oceanport, N.J. – It looked over soon after it started as Bustin Out powered to the early lead and cruised around the Monmouth Park Racetrack to post a 3-length score in the $51,200 allowance feature on Saturday afternoon.
With regular pilot Jose Ferrer along for the ride, Bustin Out covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:11.13 and paid $2.80, $2.20 and $2.10 as the heavy-favorite in the field of five New Jersey-bred fillies and mares. Irish Defence, the older half-sister to Irish War Cry, finished second, completing the $9.20 exacta and paying $3.20 and $3. Pinot Grigio, who finished another 2 ¼ lengths back, rallied from last to pay $3.80 to show.
“That was what we were hoping for,” said winning trainer Chuck Spina. “She’s been doing great and we figured she’d come back good. We’ll find another spot for her here next.”
A 5-year-old daughter of Bustin Stones from the Disco Rico mare Disco Shaker, Bustin Out now sports a record of 7-3-4 from 15 outings.
Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Sunday, May 21 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.
