CHUBBLE MAKER ALL THE WAY IN MONDAY FEATURE AT MONMOUTH;
OVER 47,000 POUR THROUGH GATES MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
Oceanport, N.J. – Monster Racing Stables’ Chubble Maker grabbed the lead shortly after the start and took his rivals all the way in the 5 ½ furlong $51,200 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Monday afternoon. The day marked the third and final day of the racetrack’s food truck festival, which saw 47,126 spin the turnstiles at the Jersey Shore venue over the holiday weekend.
Trained by Jorge Navarro, Chubble Maker stepped the sloppy distance in 1:03.64 and returned $8.20, $4.20 and $2.20. Fast Friar, who was a length and a quarter behind the winner, completed the $47.20 exacta and paid $4.40 and $2.80. It was another half-length back to Saucy Don, who paid $4.60 to show. Chublicious, the favorite in the field of eight New Jersey bred colts and geldings, checked in fourth.
“The plan from the start was to go to the front,” said winning jockey Jose Ferrer. “He was sitting pretty on the backstretch and had plenty left when we hit the eighth pole. He really seemed to like the slop today.”
A 6-year-old horse by Hey Chub from the Pure Prize mare Thatholeinmypocket, Chubble Maker now sports a record of 7-2-3 from 15 lifetime starts.
