She’s Hot Wired Goes for Another Stakes Win In Regret
July 14, 2017
She’s Hot Wired looks to add another stakes victory to her Monmouth Park resume when she takes on five others in Sunday’s $60,000 Regret Stakes going six furlongs on the main track.
The 6-year-old mare by Cable Boy closed hard along the rail in the stretch and just missed catching pacesetter Liz’s Cable Boy by a neck in her latest run in an allowance optional claiming event July 7, her second start of 2017. Her first came on May 27 where she finished fourth versus state-bred allowance company.
In her 43 race career, She’s Hot Wired has run at Monmouth Park for 20 of them, hitting the board 15 times including a win in last year’s Open Mind Handicap. She returns to this race after finishing fourth in last year’s edition behind multiple graded stakes winner Stonetastic.
Owned by Shore Point Stable, the daughter of the Diablo mare Diablo’s Number last found the winner’s circle against stakes rivals in September when she recorded a neck victory, going wire-to-wire, in the Pink Ribbon Stakes at Charles Town.
“She has been doing good since that last race,” said trainer Anthony Margotta Jr. “There looks to be plenty of speed in the race and we hope she will get a good trip early and come finishing hard late.”
To grab the victory on Sunday, She’s Hot Wired will have to take down three stakes winners including Court Dancer, for Jason Servis, who won the Broadway Stakes last year at Aqueduct, and Bustin Out, who won the Eleven North Handicap last season at Monmouth and has hit the board in 13 of her 14 starts at the Jersey Shore.
The Regret will go as race 9 on Sunday’s 10-race card. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. for Day 2 of the Jersey Shore Surf & Turf Festival with first post at 12:50 p.m.
