With the 2014 Monmouth Park meeting just past the midway point,
a pair of familiar faces top the jockey and trainer standings as White Wabbit
Wacing tops the owner’s ranks.
With a pair of record breaking 7-win days to his credit,
Paco Lopez, who was leading rider here in 2010 and 2013, has 89 victories,
better than 50 more than his closest rival, Gabriel Saez, who has booted home
33 winners. Orlando Bocachica is third
with 29 wins, six more than Eddie Castro, who is expected to return off an
injury later this week. Rounding out the
top five is Trevor McCarthy, who sports 22 trips to the winner’s circle.
The trainer’s race has last year’s top conditioner once
again showing the way as Jorge Navarro leads the pack with 21 wins, one more
than David Jacobson, who is one better than Eddie Plesa Jr. Todd Pletcher, a two-time top Monmouth
conditioner, is fourth with 16 wins, followed by the duo of Claudio Gonzalez
and Hugh McMahon, each with 14 winners.
White Wabbit Wacing LLC tops the owner’s ranks with 12
wins, five more than David Jacobson, who bests the partnership of Drawing Away
Stable and David Jacobson by one win.
