Monmouth Park has announced that Travis Stone will become its new track announcer come the beginning of its 2014 meet on Saturday, May 10. Most recently the announcer at Louisiana Downs, Stone replaces Larry Collmus who served as the voice of Monmouth Park since 1994.

"We’re excited to have Travis join the Monmouth Park team," said Bob Kulina, president of Darby Development LLC, operators of Monmouth Park Racetrack. "He’s a talented race caller with passion and intelligence for the game. He will fit in perfectly with Monmouth, and we look forward to his exciting race calls this summer and for many years to come."

Following his first live race call at Suffolk Downs in 2005, Stone has called at Churchill Downs, Calder, Golden Gate Fields, Lone Star Park and Sam Houston. In 2007, Stone called a race at Monmouth Park as part of All-Star Announcer Day.

Stone, a 30-year-old graduate of State University of New York at Oneonta and the Missouri Auction School, was named track announcer at Louisiana Downs in 2006, a year after working as a TV analyst at Gulfstream Park during the 2005 season.

"I’m beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to call at a racetrack with the illustrious history and tradition of Monmouth Park," Stone said. "I’m eagerly awaiting opening day and look forward to sharing my passion for the game with the New Jersey racing community."

Opening Day for Monmouth Park’s 2014 meet is Saturday, May 10. Headlined by the Grade 1, $1 million William Hill Haskell Invitational on Sunday, July 27, the 57-day meet will conclude Sunday, September 28.
