The all new Favorites at Woodbridge Handicapping Challenge Series kicked-off Sunday, February 23 with over 100 players taking part. The new five-part series provides handicapping enthusiasts with the chance at earning a seat in the 2015 Horse Player World Series in Las Vegas. The Top 20 players from each contest will be invited to return to Favorites at Woodbridge to compete in the year-end Invitational on December 6, 2014.
For the first of the five contests, players wagered on full cards from Aqueduct, Gulfstream Park, and Tampa Bay Downs with a $50 bankroll. Each player was required to wager on a minimum of 10 races at a minimum $5 per race and only on a Win, Place, or Show wager (or any combination of the three.) Players could only wager on one horse per race.
Taking home top prize for the inaugural contest was Jared Hutt of Forked River, NJ. With a final bankroll of just over $400, Hutt maintained a clear lead after cashing a $40.00 Win/Place wager on the 10th race at Gulfstream Park adding $356.00 to his bankroll.
Hutt along with the following 19 players will advance to the Favorites at Woodbridge Invitational in December.
