With four days of live racing remaining at the 2013 Monmouth Park meet, the race for top conditioner is coming down to Jorge Navarro and Eddie Plesa Jr.  Through the Sept. 22 card, Navarro held a 41 to 39 advantage and each are stocked with runners for this weekend’s 19 races.

Navarro is scheduled to start six runners apiece on Saturday and Sunday, while Plesa has four entered on each card.  Following the dueling leaders are the duo of Ramon Moya and Claudio Gonzalez, who have each saddled 26 winners, four more than Gregg Sacco.

The owner’s race is also coming down to the wire with John Brunetti’s Red Oak Farm on top with 17 trips to the winner’s circle, just one more than High Point Thoroughbred Partners.  Red Oak and High Point each have four entered this weekend.

The only certainty is jockey Paco Lopez, who cruised to the title to claim his second riding championship at Monmouth.  Lopez, the top jockey here in 2010, has 93 wins, 36 more than four-time champion Elvis Trujillo.  Gabriel Saez is third with 54 wins, one more than Joe Bravo.  Apprentice rider Manuel Franco rounds out the top five with 43 victories.

The 2013 Monmouth meet runs through Sunday, Oct. 6.
