Trainer Tony Wilson will be giving a leg up to jockey Shannon Uske in Saturday’s feature at Monmouth as that duo looks to connect for the second time this meet with the 4-year-old filly Do Somethin.

“We had our eye on her for a while,” said Wilson from his Monmouth Park base.  “She’s proved a nice claim and hopefully we get lucky again on Saturday.”

While she can be called a nice claim now, there were certainly some anxious moments when Wilson ran her back for the first time off the claim on Aug. 2, where she was eased through the stretch.

“Fortunately there was nothing seriously wrong,” Wilson explained.  “Bravo (jockey Joe) just felt there was something off and played it safe rather than sorry.  Thankfully everything worked out just fine.”

One race later that good claim statement rang true for Wilson as Do Somethin pressed the early pace before drawing clear in the lane to score at odds of 7-1.  She followed that up with a solid third-place finish at Parx on Sept. 3.

“She’s a good runner,” Wilson said.  “Her numbers are going up and she should prove tough against this group on Saturday.”
Among the other six fillies entered in Saturday’s $40,000 six furlong test are Crazy About Me, who rides a four-race win streak into the allowance/optional claiming event and Circular Rainbow, winner of her last two.  Both of those fillies are conditioned by leading trainer Jorge Navarro.

Saturday’s feature is slated for race nine on a 10-race program.
