Trilogy Stable and Laurie Plesa’s Yes I’m Lucky popped out of the gate on top and was headed around the far turn before digging in to capture the $60,000 Tyro Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, besting stablemate Run for Logistics by a length and three-quarters.

Ridden by Paco Lopez, Yes I’m Lucky stepped the five furlongs over “good” turf in :56 4/5 and paid $5.20, $2.80 and $2.80.  Run for Logistics completed the $15 exacta and returned $3 and $3.  It was another ¾ of a length back to Manaus, who paid $3.20 to show.

“I was very pleased with the way both my horses ran,” said winning trainer Eddie Plesa Jr., whose entrants finished first and second.  “Yes It’s True horses don’t necessarily like the turf, so I was hoping for his mother’s side to kick in.  He ran great.  Barring anything unforeseen, they’ll both be back in the Sapling (Grade 3 here on Sept. 1).”

A 2-year-old colt by Yes It’s True from the Dove Hunt mare Whenthedoveflies, Yes I’m Lucky is a perfect three-for-three.  He has now banked $93,000 for his connections.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Friday, August 9 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.  As always, the racetrack is open seven days a week for simulcasting from across the country and around the globe.
