Oceanport, N.J. – Fresh Start
Stable’s JJ’s Lucky Train prevailed in a long stretch duel to take the $46,000
allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Friday afternoon.
Trained by Jane Cibelli, JJ’s Lucky Train covered the six
furlongs on a fast track in 1:09 1/5 and paid $5.60, $3.40 and $2.40. It was a
length back to Safe Trip who completed the $34.80 exacta and paid $6.80 and
$3.60. It was another half-length back
to Well Spelled, who paid $2.40 to show.
“On the backside he got a little dirt in his face and
didn’t like it,” said winning jockey Elvis Trujillo. “But in the straight when
he got clear, he was strong. He dug in and finished good.”
A 4-year-old colt by Silver Train from the Thunder Gulch
mare Delta Sensation, JJ’s Lucky Train scored for the first time in 2012 and the
sixth time in 17 lifetime starts by taking the Friday feature.
