Oceanport, N.J. – Brinker Hill Farm’s Millenia came from off the pace, assumed command inside the eighth pole and then drew off through the lane to win the $46,000 allowance optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Friday afternoon by 3 ¾ lengths.

Trained by David Fawkes, Millenia covered 1 1/16 miles over a firm turf course in 1:41 3/5 and returned $11.60, $5.60 and $3.40. Crying Lightening had to settle for second, completing the $59.20 exacta and paying $5.80 to place and $3.40 to show. It was another length back to 8-5 favorite Salary Drive, who paid $2.60 to show.

“I sat behind the speed and waited until I felt the others coming behind me,” said winning jockey Joe Rocco, Jr. “When I asked her, she really responded and she had plenty left at the wire.”

Friday’s win was the fourth in 24 career starts and the third in 14 outings over the turf for Millenia, a 5-year-old daughter of Milwaukee Brew and the Regal Classic mare Sararegal.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Saturday, July 14 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:45 p.m.
