– Monmouth Park Racetrack and the Monmouth Park Charity Fund were on-hand in New York City to close
the NASDAQ Stock Exchange on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.
“It was a
great honor to participate in the close of the NASDAQ,” said John Forbes,
president of the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association. “It was a terrific opportunity to showcase Monmouth Park
and the Monmouth Park Charity Fund and all the work they do to help those in
need in Monmouth County.”
Along with Forbes, pressing the
closing bell were Nona Balaban, a trustee with the Monmouth Park Charity Fund,
and Larry Collmus, track announcer at Monmouth Park
and the voice of the Triple Crown. They
were joined by John F. Heims, Monmouth Park’s Media Relations Director, Mike Dempsey, Monmouth’s Director of Racing and
jockeys and former jockeys Chris DeCarlo, Pedro Cotto Jr., Marland Suckie,
Steve Sousonis and Walter Cicero.
Since its inception in 1947, the
Monmouth Park Charity Fund, working in conjunction with Monmouth Park
Racetrack, has raised and distributed nearly $10 million to Monmouth County
Wednesday’s NASDAQ exchange closed
at 2,850.12 up 11.04 points.
