Trainer Jane Cibelli made history at Monmouth Park on Sunday, becoming the first female ever to capture top training honors at the Oceanport racetrack.

“You never go into a meet expecting this,” Cibelli said.  “I couldn’t be happier.  Winning leading trainer anywhere is a great accomplishment and I’m so pleased to have achieved this honor.”

A native of Leicester, England, Cibelli came to the United States in 1983 and has enjoyed great success on the New Jersey-Florida racing circuit.  In 2009 she captured the biggest win of her career when Chirac won the Grade 3 Philip H. Iselin Stakes at Monmouth.
