Hermosillo Wins Again At Monmouth

Oceanport, N.J. – Kenwood Racing LLC’s Hermosillo took command early and held off the late charge of Afleet Again to capture the $48,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday afternoon. 

            Trained by Stephen DiMauro and ridden by Chuck C. Lopez, Hermosillo stepped the mile and a sixteenth over a fast main track in 1:43 3/5 and returned $7.20, $3.40 and $2.60.  It was a half-length back to Afleet Again, who completed the $27.60 exacta and paid $3.40 and $3.  At the Disco, who paid $6.40 to show, was another neck back in the field of six colts and geldings. 

            Hermosillo has now won seven of his 10 lifetime victories at Monmouth.  Last out, the 7-year-old by Sea of Secrets from the Black Tie Affair mare Exquisite Affair captured the Charles Hesse III Handicap for New Jersey breds. 

            Live racing continues at Monmouth on Monday, October 10, for a special Columbus Day card.  The nine-race program gets underway at 12:50 p.m., with gates opening at 11:30 a.m.
