Rustler Hustler Looks Tough in Saturday Feature

Posted Thursday, Oct 18, 2012

With a stakes victory and a lot of back-class to bank on, MAT Stables LLC’s Rustler Hustler looks to prove tough to beat in Saturday’s feature at the Meadowlands, a $32,000 allowance/optional claimer.  But despite Rustler Hustler’s solid credentials, a full-field of ten will assemble, with nine hoping to best the colt by Ecton Park.

“He’s a real nice looking horse,” said Mike Farro, husband and assistant to trainer Patricia Farro.  “He’s just a real good horse who shows up every time.”

Last out at this level, Rustler Hustler was beaten a length and a quarter as the 2-1 favorite at Monmouth Park.  Three back he was taken out of a winning effort at Monmouth by his current connections.

Prior to entering the claiming ranks; however, Rustler Hustler was keeping company with the highest level of runners, winning a pair of stakes as a 2-year-old before trying the Cash Call Futurity (Grade 1) and then stakes efforts in the Jersey Derby and Hall of Fame (Grade 2) as a 3-year-old.

“He certainly has back-class,” Farro said.  “I’m sure he’ll show up on Saturday and give it his all.”

Jockey Chris DeCarlo has the call in the Saturday feature, slated as the fifth race on the program.  Both he and Rustler Hustler will break from post six in the one mile turf test.
