Angel Serpa Has Clearance To Resume Riding

Posted Saturday, Jul 21, 2012

Jockey Angel Serpa will be back in action on Sunday after receiving medical clearance to resume riding. Monmouth’s fifth leading jockey suffered a concussion in a spill last week when his horse attempted to jump the inner rail throwing the rider to the turf.

“He’s feeling great, he’s ready to ride, and he’s excited to be back. He feels like Angel Serpa again,” said Al Delape, his agent. “He’s raring to get going.”

Serpa, who has 19 wins from 162 mounts so far, is named on five horses on Sunday’s 12-race card and he is slated to ride Rogue in the featured $60,000 Klassy Briefcase Stakes for trainer Tim Hills.
