Triple Arch and Rebecca’s Surprise
dueled through the lane with the former besting the latter by a nose to take
the $46,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park
on Friday afternoon.

Arch came with a three-wide run around the far turn as Rebecca’s Surprise moved
almost in tandem along the inside.
Triple Arch held a slight advantage through most of the stretch before
Rebecca’s Surprise battled to a narrow advantage only to the lose a head-bob on
“She took me into a good position
and I just waited for my time to move,” said winning jockey Orlando
Bocachia. “Everything went perfectly for
me and she was able to get her nose down first.”

Triple Arch returned $6, $3 and $2.40 as the second-choice in the field of six
fillies and mares. Rebecca’s Surprise
completed the $16.40 exacta and paid $3 and $2.40. It was another 2 ¾ lengths back to pacesetter
Crazy About Me, who paid $3.20 to show.
Friday’s win was the first this
year and fourth lifetime for Triple Arch, a 4-year-old daughter of Arch from
the Chester House mare Ambling.
