P J's Back Takes Friday Feature at the Meadowlands

East Rutherford, N.J. – Bruno Schickedanz’s P J’s Back took command soon after the start before cruising under the wire a convincing 3 ¾ length winner in the $20,000 claiming feature at the Meadowlands on Friday afternoon.

            Trained by Yvon Belsoeur and ridden by Armando Ayuso, P J’s Back returned $4.60, $2.80 and $2.80 as the 13-10 favorite in the field of nine.  Lady Rizzie, the lone mare in the field, rallied to complete the $22.20 exacta and paid $3.40 to place and $2.80 to show.  It was another three quarters of a length back to Eliedefeatspeyton, who paid $3.80 to show after a troubled trip.  The time for the five furlongs over firm turf was :57 4/5.

            A 5-year-old gelding by Put It Back from the Prime Minister mare Prime Jewel, the New Jersey-bred P J’s Back has won four of his 10 starts this season.
