OCEANPORT, N.J. – A game and determined Hermosillo battled back along the inside to post a nose victory over Little Stitch in the $48,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday afternoon.

Trained by Stephen DiMauro and ridden by Chuck C. Lopez, Hermosillo was passed in deep stretch by Little Stitch, the lone mare in the field of six New Jersey-bred runners, only to come back again for the win.  It was the third consecutive victory for Hermosillo, who covered the mile over a fast main track in 1:37 flat.  The winner returned $7.40, $4.20 and $2.80.  Little Stitch completed the $110.40 exacta and paid $11 and $5.20.  It was another length and a quarter back to He’s So Chic, who paid $2.80 to show.

A 7-year-old gelding by Seas of Secrets from the Black Tie Affair mare Exquisite Affair, Hermosillo boosted his lifetime mark to 11-13-6 from 59 starts.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Friday, Nov. 4, with free Grandstand or Clubhouse admission.  Gates open at 11:30 a.m. with first post set for 12:15 p.m.  In addition to live racing on Friday, Monmouth will beam-in the first of two days of Breeders’ Cup action from Churchill Downs.

As always, the racetrack is open seven days a week for simulcasting from across the country and around the globe.
